A friend of mine has a quote on the wall of her living room, stating:
“This is my happy place”
When I think about it, my happy place has more to do with positive emotions than that of physical location. My happy place is a place filled with love and laughter, the firm believe that I belong. Therefore my happy place can by anywhere in the world, it is most definitely not restricted to any one specific place. My happy place depends on the people I share my surroundings with. That realization awakens a responsibility in me as a wife and a mother. It is within my capacity to ensure that our home is a happy place for my husband and my daughter. It may not be far-fetched to wish for a working environment where employees feel secure and safe. May it be the dream of every pastor that their church is a happy place for all believers who attends. The same goes for schools.
My favorite happy place is without a doubt the time I spent with my expanded family. My immediate family, my parents, my sister and her family. The venue of such a visit is not important, the closeness we share is the determining factor. My most cherished memories are linked to family holidays. Not because of exquisite or luxurious surroundings, my family’s holiday of choice remains a tent pitched in a simple park. Without fail our tent transforms into out happy place, because we are together, because we have fun, because we enjoy each other’s company, because of the love we share.
That would be my main goal as a parent and a wife. May I be the happy place of the ones I love.
