Poem by my fifteen-year old
Once there was a rich man
He was nice and to whom all the children ran
He wanted all the riches of the earth
but he overlooked love and compassion’s worth.
He looked wise and strong
but in his life everything was wrong.
He chased everything that he thought could fulfill him
But whatever he did, his life grew more dim
The storm was raging and the cold told him there was no forgiveness.
Then Jesus came and showed him kindness.
For the first time he felt love and compassion
and in his life there was restoration.
Jesus broke the chain that was binding him,
and now he has freedom and is no longer a victim.
Once there was a rich man,
and to Jesus he ran.
God’s love was raging in him like a waterfall.
Nothing he feared because he knew he would not fall –
for now he knew Jesus, and his life was rich within.
For all who feel empty, lost and cold
know that Jesus is the cure for your fear.
